Fairy Tales and Whiteness

ZAPIRO captures most of what is needed to understand the apartheid denialist argument.

And now, drawing on ZAPIRO's rendition of the grandest fairy tale of all, I will list below the names of all white people (anywhere) who have NOT benefitted from racism:

Hi, Ridwan.

Nice post. Labels, labels, labels...

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

You're not kidding about the touts at the Taj (and the Delhi area
generally). It was maddening and tiring: people constantly trying to sell
you junk. Ah, well.

The Taj is fantastic, eh?

Hey there Dade:

I really enjoyed stopping by your blog last night. Great pictures!

The Taj experience for me was a little hectic. I was tired by the time I got to Agra because I took a regular train ride from Delhi.

Wrong choice. I have never been so cramped in all my life. At one point my face was crushed to the wall as more and more folks climbed on board.

Surviving the touts to get to the Taj was the worst though.

When I saw the Taj my mood lightened. But it also saddened me. Lots of people died to construct that monument for Shah Jahan.

Some say in excess of 22 000!

And the place was packed with tourists.

But mostly I was thinking that it represented more of a tragedy in terms of oppression than a monument to a wife among many other wives.

I thought that time would clear this all up for me. It has not.

But it was important to see hey. Can't go to India and not see the Taj ... if the touts will let you.

Nontheless, India is a magnificent experience ... a living laboratory of layers and layers of civilization.

Thanks for looking in Dade.

Peace,
Ridwan

Ps. Did you visit Qutub Minar and the Red Fort in Delhi?
