Foot in Mouth Racism

The 'big' news is that Senator Barack Obama (Democrat from Illinois) is likely to seek the Democratic Party's nomination for President. Obama is the darling of liberals who want to believe that a Black man, even a beige one, can be President. Well as long as he gets rid of his middle name, Hussein, and does not piss off too many white people who will expect him to know his place.

But now Senator Joseph R. Biden (Democrat from Delaware) has gone and screwed with the saviour-in-waiting's integrity. And he did so by paying him compliments that are patently racist.

Biden, who once defined Delaware as a slave state, described Obama's candidacy in this way: "... you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. I mean, that's a storybook, man."

Oh wow! A white man, a liberal nogal, who thinks Obama is "articulate" and ... ummmmm "clean" ...! As opposed to who I wonder?

Well as opposed to the loud mouth Al Sharpton.

And, of course, the rappin' Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Now don't lose the plot here compai. Al and Jesse have not endorsed Obama for president. But they have gone on the record, in Shilpa Shetty fashion, to declare the offending Biden a non-racist. Obama agreed.

Biden after all is known to put his ass in his mouth from time to time. In June 2006 he said the following about the growing numbers of Indian-Americans in Delaware: "You cannot go into a 7-11 or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. Oh, I'm not joking."

This liberal insight from a man who dropped out of the 1988 democratic party nomination race after he admitted that he plagiarized a speech from a British politician.

But Joe ain't no racist. Maybe just stupid? Right Mr. Obama Hussein Barack? Oops, sorry about outing the Hussein name again. But don't worry no thinking American will confuse him with that other terrorist Hussein. After all he did vote to re-authorize the Patriot Act. And who can forget how he refused to join his fellow Senator from Illinois, Dick Durbin, in criticizing the US's torture practices in Guantanomo?

See this column by Paul Street entitled "The Obama Illusion" for more on the mainstream, and even conservative friendly, Senator: http://zmagsite.zmag.org/Feb2007/street0207.html

But back to Biden. Here are a few quotes about him and his view of Obama from New York Times readers:

"Biden's chance of winning the nomination was always zero. Now it is less than zero."

"For a white guy, that Biden is pretty inarticulate."

"What he means by "clean" is "he sounds white".

"who cares? get a life, Iraq is a mess, our kids our dying. Molly Ivins died yesterday. Biden won't win anyway. get to work and call your senators to get us the hell out of iraq."

AND THIS IS THE PEARL:

"Maybe 'articulate' was appropriately chosen, since we have not had the opportunity to pair "articulate" and "president" in the same sentence in at least 6 years.

Now I could not have said it better ... but irreverant columnist Molly Ivins often did. See a collection of her columns at: http://www.creators.com/opinion/molly-ivins/archive.html
