Claims of "Genocide" in Kenya

The Kenyan crisis has reached day five as I write here. President Mwai Kibaki has accused opposition leader, Raila Odinga, of "genocide" according to Al Jazeera.

Odinga for his part accuses Kibaki of "genocide on a grand scale" according to CNN.

CNN has also published very disturbing pictures of dead bodies, including infants, piled up on shelves in a Nairobi morgue. It is not known when these people were killed but the assumption is on Thursday (today).

I am lost for words broer.

As of this writing, more than 300 people have been killed since the election results became known on Sunday.

And so Kenya continues to burn.

This is not how it's supposed to be! Is this the harsh reality of what our world has been reduced to?

As a mother, my heart truly breaks to see helpless children treated in such an inhumane way.

There has got to be a better way!

Thank you for posting these pictures Ridwan.

This is so painful to witness, even from afar.

This is absolutely positively horrible!
It is also interesting to see what CNN decides to show us....
It might just be me; but while I appreciate any and all of the truth of the news (when we actually hear and see it) with all the censorship, I almost feel like it’s somewhat disrespectful to depict the dead. I’m torn on that because I feel that the majority of individuals benefit most powerfully from what they can see.
Either way, this is just such a sad, disgraceful “burn” on humanity that this torture is happening to people, especially those who are so young.

I just found out my program in Kenya is being suspended for the next 6 months due to all of this. I'm feeling extremely heartbroken about all of it.

Thank you for keeping your readers informed on this issue. I'm continuing to hear from friends/relatives saying that there STILL isn't much about this in mainstream US news. Unbelievable.

I keep seeing this, and it breaks my heart.
The world is indeed a scary place.
Peace to all the good people out there for the new years!

Thanks for your comments Erica, Shush li, Dione, and Desiree.

Sorry for the late post here. We have been without phone service since early Friday morning. It was just restored at 10:30pm (Saturday).

I am horrified that the Kenya situation.

You will be happy to know that Kibake is saying he is open to a Government of National Unity.

Dione I had some of your reaction. I wondered if CNN would have posted these pictures if the folks were European (white).

I remember that Time did the same with Black folk in the aftermath of Katrina.

It is a worrying issue that I set aside here because it is real and people need to know the extent of the horror in Kenya.

Yeah our world is scary.

Desiree I am so sorry to hear about your program in Kenya. I am happy though to know that you are safe and outside Kenya now.

Keep me posted on you.

Peace and struggle,
Ridwan

YES!!!
You don't see Caucasian dead bodies stacked up! I can only think of the holocaust; people considered subhuman again at the time.
I think of this heart breaking torture to human beings, and STILL there is no respect for the dead in the white male dominated society, and suits at CNN which is only an example.
A tragedy on too many levels, it makes me angry. Remember everyone, CNN or pick which ever media source PROFITS, by exploiting these poor people who did nothing to anyone except wanting to live.
