I recognize that staying in one place for too long is not good for my moods.
Well not good in that I find myself stuck and pissed off way too much. And the stuff that grates me would make just about anybody shake their head in disbelief.
"Why let stuff like that get to you?" "Just ignore it and move on." "Don't you have more important things to worry about?"
Ummmm no! I see all sh*t related to everything else.
This morning on my way to work (and listening to talk radio as usual) I started wondering again why so many South Africans start a sentence with a negative, or rather with the word "no".
"How are you this morning?" the host asked.
"No no I am fine," the guest replied. No No? Is the fool fine or not? Why the contradiction?
And why repeat it?
"I am fine. Thanks for asking."
"No good good."
Huh?
Are we a damn nation of negative stutterers? Hell we even named the national soccer team Bafana Bafana and would leave it so were it not for the no no that has the name trademarked to to a white man.
Why?
No no don't answer me. I'm just ranting as usual.
Good good. Now I need an aspirin ... no no don't worry I'll get it myself ...

Haha! Maty speaks that way as well:
"Maty, what did Mom say on the phone?"
"No, she just said hi, asked how I was doing."
You crazy Africans! :-)
Oh no brother Dade don't say it has spread beyond the land of the whacky rainbow!
We are indeed crazy.
Please give my best greetings to Maty.
Be well. No no, be very well my brother.
Good Good and Onward!
ridwan :)
Howsit, howsit....
Seeing as how I currently prefix all my sentences with 'Shame, no...' I...er...am going to slink away.
(It's like hiccoughs. Caught the habit on campus, and can't seem to get rid of it....)
;)
Salaam pserean:
No no I understand. Eish it is hard ne. But shame you don't need to to to "slink away" I know what you are saying all too well.
Shap!
Ps. now my head really hurts :)
