Tao Te Ching: Supple is the Disciple of Life

Men are born soft and supple;
dead, they are stiff and hard.
Plants are born tender and pliant;
dead, they are brittle and dry.

Thus whoever is stiff and inflexible
is a disciple of death.
Whoever is soft and yielding
is a disciple of life.

The hard and stiff will be broken.
                                                      The soft and supple will prevail. (76)

ridi this reminds me of the saying "stiff in opinion always wrong". i tell my graduate students -thanks to you- there are no certainties in the life of an intellectual. i am going to invite you to teach a research methods course when you get done with your writing projects in kimberley. don't say no. i won't accept. ok. :>)

Hey Lauren:

I would absolutely luv to teach a course and be in Boston again even in the fall.

The last time I was there the Red Sox won the world series and that night I went to see Tears for Fears in concert.

It was a magical night.

Thanks for your comment.

Peace and luv,
