Australia has decided to drastically cut the number of African refugees it will admit according to Kevin Andrews, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship.
Previously, Australia admitted a grand total of 1300 refugees per year, and African refugees made up 70% of that number. Now, the decision is to admit only 30% of the same grand total.
Kevin Andrews says the decision is not based on race. Instead, the government wants the world to know that African refugees do not integrate into Australian society.
I wonder what kind of 'integration' problem Africans pose when they attempt to settle into democratic, and supposedly diverse, Australia?
Could it perhaps be the same kind of 'integration' problem that characterizes Aboriginal life under Australian occupation?
Kevin Andrews says that most of the problem he is referring to is drawn from anecdotal evidence and pertains to Sudanese refugees. For some reason the Sudanese cannot seamlessly disappear into the fabric of Australian society.
Last week, Sudanese refugee Liep Gony(18) was brutally beaten to death near a Melbourne train station. His fate was obviously telegraphed by his 'inability' to fit into great-white Australia.
If you are looking to find specifics that ground this decision you will be sorely disappointed. We are not told what kind of integration problem arises when Sudanese refugees are admitted. We are also not told how the problem expands to describe all African refugees.
The Australian government obviously wants you to take their interpretive and predictive word on this matter. Kinda like they want you to take their word on the reasons for re-colonizing Aborigines in the Northern Territory.
In either case, the great whiteness that drive Australian values knows what is needed. Africans refugees are better off living outside of Australia. And the decision is for their own good.
Unfortunately, Aborigines are in Australia already. So, they have to be 'civilized' into Australian society. If even forcibly. And the decision is for their own good.
Of course, racism has nothing to do with the government's decision to stop Africans from living in Australia. In fact, Australia has already successfully integrated thousands of South Africans over the last 5 decades. And very successfully too, thank you.
The fact that these settled 'Africans' were white, skilled, and wealthy, does not mean a damn thing, right?
Who do these racists think they are fooling? We can see through all this racist posturing.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) UNHCR states that " it is not aware of any empirical evidence that suggests there are integration difficulties associated with Sudanese compared with any other comparatively newly arrived group of refugees."
Now why am I not surprised? So let's cut the crap Australia.
African refugees are not welcome in Australia because they are Black. And rationalizing this exclusion hardly hides the racism present.
Another reason to boycott occupied Australia!
I received this comment from Ana in occupied Australia as I finished my post above. It adds complexity to my thoughts above. Thank you in struggle my sista!

Pono, your right racism is the glue which holds occupied Australia together, this attack on refugees from Africa is disgusting and the majority of Australians remain silent beneficiaries of racism. fyi posted this a couple of days ago on my blog, Flemington is a suburb of Melbourne.
Police accused of race attacks on Africans
"A LEAKED police report has questioned the future of a senior sergeant accused by lawyers of running a regime of "racially motivated police violence" against local African youths at Flemington police station"
