"Mugabe a Frankenstein Figure"

This is what Nobel Peace Prize laureate Desmond Tutu has said of Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe.

Tutu warned that "Rwanda happened despite all the warnings that the international community was given, they kept holding back and today we are regretting that we did not, in fact, act expeditiously. I hope in this case we are not going to wait until several more people have been killed."

Tutu is right and swift action is needed.

I am saddened that South Africa's President Mbeki has enabled Mugabe's authoritarian hold on Zimbabwe.

Post-apartheid South Africa has no business supporting a dictator like Mugabe.

From what I hear about the situation in Zimbabwe, the potential for a bloody sweep of violence is big. I saw footage of people being chased through neighborhoods by armed mobs. Archbishop Tutu's warning should be a wake up call for everyone.

Ridwan, my friend, thanks for your kind words on my blog. I consider you a friend, too. And I always learn from your blog.

Take care.

Hey there Dade. I saw some of that footage too and was horrified. There are reports that rape is being used by pro-Mugabe mobs too.

I was happy to hear Mandela raise his lofty voice.

Dade I was touched by your post. You are most welcome brother.

Best wishes to you and Maty.

Peace and struggle,
Ridwan
