Another Time Off, Again

I know that Guru Mooi thinks that academics have too much playtime and that I, in particular, take too much time off.

He may be right but then again he also believes that Jesus was buried in Kashmir. ;0)

The term has ended here in village hell and I am off to see moms and do other stuff not related to the Soccer World Cup which begins in just 9 days.

I hope to catch up on the important things like watching Rafa Nadal reclaim his French Open title and enjoy some MotoGP racing on occasion too (all via the idiot box of course).

MotoGP is exciting again now that Jorge Lorenzo is taking it to the champion, Valentino Rossi (pictured).

I am also taking this time away to do the 'what is next' think-through. Yesterday I turned down a position to stay here in village hell.

A promise to see three graduate students through a MA program and work with a couple of Ph.D. students has taken on more meaning for me.

I must be getting soft.

Dunno.

I will be back in village hell by mid-July to take up my usual concern over the dumbing down of South Africa and following the crease lines that tell me I'm getting old. ;0)

Saturday is my 46th birthday. Just the other day I was four and then two years later six.

46 is also Valentino Rossi's racing number (I'm just giddy at the prospect of leaving dodge today and making no sense).

So, I am racing to get the hell out of here.

AnyHowze, I'll be back on the blog again.

Peace.

Ridwan

Ps. I may be getting too old to be bloggin' ... dunno!

Thanks so very much Mary. Sorry for the late reply. Just checked in for a minute.

It is a challenge being away from the web but I'm working on it ;0)

Peace to you my friend.
