'They Paved Paradise ... '

I was reading an article this morning about China's crazy plans to develop a new metropolis in the desert and the Joni Mitchell cut below started to play by itself inside my head.

See: "China to flatten 700 mountains for new metropolis in the desert" (Guardian: December 6).

When will we learn?  And this from the ancestral land of Lao Tzu!

This is not the way of the Tao.  Rivers must flow and mountains must stand.

And all for a universal reason.

'Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Til it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot'

Onward!

This is one of my most favourite songs of all time was even my ringtone for the longest time- it's sad though that we can only realise the worth of things when they're no longer there. The human condition *sigh* we are still not free !
